Monday Thoughts April 4, 2016

In my world the tulips and daffodils are blooming in great bunches. They abound everywhere! Trees are bursting with flowers and new green leaves. Snow is quietly receding on the mountains, and gentle warm rains are watering the earth.

I am so happy to see that it is spring again. The dark coldness of winter has never appealed to me, but it does make me appreciate the warmer sunnier days this time of year. The contrast enlarges my appreciation for all the new life returning to the earth.

We have spoken before about light, and it is the return of light to the earth that brings about the renewal of life, the springing forth of flowers and plants, the warmth that soothes our souls. Here are some ideas of the great importance light plays in the plan of our Heavenly Father:

"That which is of God is light; and he that receiveth light, and continueth in God, receiveth more light;...." (Doctrine & Covenants 50:24); "Therefore, hold up your light that it may shine unto the world." (3 Nephi 18:24); "God is light, and in him is no darkness at all." (1 John 1:5); "Verily I say unto you all: Arise and shine forth, that thy light may be a standard for the nations;" (Doctrine & Covenants 115:5)

Choose any way you like to let your light shine. Perhaps it will be to give a smile where a caustic remark may have been a temptation. Hold the door open for someone. Let someone ease into your traffic lane. Put a love note in someone's lunch sack.

Now, remember that this may not be a sunshine day for everyone. Sometimes there is a little black cloud that just hovers over someone who is having a hard time. Maybe you can say a quiet prayer for that person so that angels will come and give comfort. Don't be judgmental. We all have times when the most courageous thing we can do to get up and get on with what is necessary. Consider this quote:  "Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says, 'I'll try again tomorrow.'" (Mary Anne Rodmacher)

I hope you enjoy this day!

I'll be back next Monday.....
